 Lesson One
  
 1.  INVINCIBLE-  Unable to be conquered 
 2.  PROVINCIAL-  Limited in knowledge of the world;  narrow-minded
 3.  EVINCE-  To establish;  to reflect the truth of 
 4.  CONDUCIVE-  Supportive; encouraging; helping to bring about 
 5.  INDUCE-  To lead towards some action 
 6.  DEDUCE-  To draw a conclusion from fact; to infer 
 7.  PROTRACTED-  Extended in time; prolonged 
 8.  INTRACTABLE-  Stubborn; obstinate; hard to move forward 
 9.  RETRACT-  To draw back; withdraw
10. PETULANT-  Irritable or short-tempered
11. IMPETUOUS-  Acting passionately and without forethought
12. IMPETUS-  That which drives one; momentum

Lesson Two

 1.  FRACTIOUS-  Tending to argue or cause discord 
 2.  INFRACTION-  Minor violation of a rule or law 
 3.  INFRINGE-  To intrude on an area belonging to another; to trespass 
 4.  EXCISE-  To cut out of; remove 
 5.  INCISIVE-  Sharply cutting; direct and powerful 
 6.  CONCISE-  Brief and straightforward 
 7.  EPITOME-  The best or most typical example 
 8.  ANATOMY-  The structure or parts, taken as a whole 
 9.  TOME-  A large and serious book
10. COMPUNCTION-  Feeling of regret or remorse
11. PUNCTILIOUS-  Paying strict attention to detail; extremely careful
12. PUNGENT-  Stinging or biting, especially in taste or smell
13. DICHOTOMY-  Two opposite parts of one whole

 1.  COMPEL-  To force or strongly persuade; coerce 
 2.  EXPEL-  To send out or away 
 3.  IMPULSE-  A sudden, involuntary urge to do something 
 4.  CONJECTURE-  A guess, often one based on inadequate or faulty evidence
 5.  DEJECTED-  Downcast or sad; depressed 
 6.  ABJECT-  Lowly, miserable and wretched 
 7.  EMISSARY-  An agent sent on a mission 
 8.  DISMISSIVE-  Showing little regard; scornful 
 9.  REMISS-  Failing to fulfill one’s duty; negligent
10. MOTIVE-  Cause for action
11. MOTIF-  A recurring theme, subject or idea
12. EMOTE-  To dramatically express emotions

Lesson Four

 1.  IMPERVIOUS-  Unable to be affected 
 2.  DEVIATE-  To depart, especially from a path or plan 
 3.  OBVIATE-  To make unnecessary; to avoid 
 4.  VIADUCT-  A bridge that carries a road or railroad over a valley 
 5.  DEFER-  To put aside until later 
 6.  DEFERENCE-  Act or practice of yielding to another’s authority 
 7.  CONFER-  To discuss something with someone else; consult 
 8.  INFERENCE-  A conclusion not directly provided by evidence; able to be
     drawn from the facts at hand. 
 9.  PROFFER-  To present or offer
10. PROLIFERATE-  To increase greatly in number; multiply
11. COMPORTMENT-  Manner in which one acts or behaves
12. PURPORTED-  Claimed as true, but probably false

 1.  ENVISAGE-  To imagine, to conceive of 
 2.  VISAGE-  Face; facial expression 
 3.  APPARITION-  An unreal figure; a ghost
 4.  IMPERATIVE-  Absolutely necessary; crucial 
 5.  DISPARATE-  Different or diverse 
 6.  PERSPICACIOUS-  Wise; insightful;  acutely intelligent 
 7.  RETROSPECTIVE-  Looking backward over a period of time 
 8.  ASPECT-  A part that can be considered or viewed 
 9.  INTROSPECTIVE-  Contemplating one’s own thoughts and feelings
10. PHENOMENON-  A fact or event which can be observed and/or documented
11. DIAPHANOUS-  Lightweight and transparent
12. EPIPHANY-  A moment of great insight; revelation
13. SYCOPHANT-  A person who flatters; a yes-man
